Nokia Launches the 5250 Mid-Range PhoneWe love smartphones, and I sometimes love simpler low-end phones too. High-end smartphones with great functions are indeed great, but sometimes all I need is some basic functions and a little entertainment, so a low-end phone will just do fine. Now let’s take a look at the Nokia 5250.

With the proliferation of highly advanced smartphones, it’s amazing how Nokia still continues to produce low-end phones yet possessing some nice, advanced features. One of these phones is the Nokia 5250, a touchscreen phone powered by Symbian and is being geared as a music-centric mobile phone.

The Nokia 5250 main feature has got to be its music player which has its own icon on the phone’s homescreen. The music player app supports Nokia’s Ovi Music Store, meaning you can purchase music tracks from the online store and download it directly to the Nokia 5250 phone. While the phone’s built-in memory is only 512MB which could hardly accomodate thousands of music tracks, you have the option to expand it via a microSD memory card up to 16GB. Aside from this, the Nokia 5250 also comes with a built-in FM radio and a complementary copy of Guitar Hero 5 Mobile.

Aside from the music player on the phone’s homescreen, there are also other apps, particularly social networking app such as Facebook, MySpace and others. The phone also lets you access your Ovi Mail, Gmail and Yahoo! Mail. You can also check out your IM accounts. For more apps, you can just check the Ovi Store to get the apps supported by the phone.

And since this is a music phone, it has to have long battery life. Fortunately, the Nokia 5250 can last you up to 24 hours of continous music playback or up to 18 days standby and 7 hours talktime.

Other features of the Nokia 5250 include – Symbian^1 OS, GSM/EDGE Network connectivity, 2.8-inch TFT screen with 16:9 aspect ratio and 640×360 resolution, and a 2 MP camera.

The Nokia 5250 is slated for a 4th Quarter release. It will cost you €115 to score this phone.

Well, how do you like the phone? I really like the polished design, it is quite chic, and the functions are ok to me. It seems a really nice phone to me.

The Vertu Strawberry and Cream CellphoneSummer is here, and everyone love cream in this sweet summer, so how about get some strawberry and cream cellphone for the fun of summer? Well, check out the Vertu Strawberry and Cream Cellphone from Nokia.

Ahh, the sweet smell of summer, and the sweet stylings by Nokia’s luxury division, Vertu, complement each other so well. Launching a special edition strawberry and cream models for the girl whose phone must match her new summer handbag, the pierced leather that decorates the Ascent mobile comes in two- you guessed it- colour ways, one berry, one cream. Though the phone cannot be faulted for it’s high tech specs- hands free loudspeakers, polyphonic Yamaha hardware and a sapphire coated LCD screen, I feel kinda gypped at the fact that they’re touting themselves as strawberries and cream, when it’s strawberries or cream. And not a Chupa Chups or scented phone charm in sight. I may have to invest in some penny sweets to cheer me up now.

So, how do you feel about these phones, girls? Do you love them, or you just want some real strawberries and cream for the summer?

Novero Victoria Collection's $100K+ Bluetooth JewelryBluetooth headset are definitely no news any more, even just here at cellphonesidekick.com we’ve seen lots of nice bluetooth headsets, and some of them are rather pretty. But this is really really totally different, actually this can really change my mind of how a bluetooth headset should look like! The Novero Victoria Collection’s $100K+ Bluetooth Jewelry is rather gorgeous than high tech.

When it comes to designing Bluetooth “headsets,” most companies work on the function first, and form follows afterwords. In the case of Novero, they do things just the opposite. They work on the design and fashion of their Bluetooth pieces first, and they worry about fitting in the technology afterwords. Unlike other electronics companies that throw on colors, designs, or crystals on to a Bluetooth earpiece, these Bluetooth accessories are truly designed from the ground up to be jewelry.

Believe it or not, Novero roots stem from the wireless accessory division at Nokia. Two years ago, the head of the division approached Nokia and requested to buy and severe the division off from the company in order to create Novero. Two years later the company is employing over 400 employees worldwide and reeling in in over 150 million dollars in profits, mostly from providing Bluetooth solutions for luxury clients like Bentley, Jaguar, Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz. But the company doesn’t just employ engineers for making their Bluetooth accessories, they also employ people from the jewelry and fashion industry, including gold craftsman. That is why their new Victoria collection first and foremost looks like jewelry, and not technology. The pieces hardly resemble a Bluetooth headset at all, until you notice that a piece of the necklace can be discretely attached and placed in one ear when in use. Even the LED battery indicator is hidden on the backside of the product so that no on ever be the wiser that you’re a spy – or that you’re just a really big gadget fashionista.

Novero Victoria Collection's $100K+ Bluetooth Jewelry onThe new Victoria collection includes several contemporary Bluetooth jewelry pieces Like the Victoria Lapis, Victoria Pearl, Victoria Stripes, Victoria Wave, and Victor which will each retail for around $250 to $350 when they go on sale in the fall. And for those with real money to burn, they’ll also be offering the Premier Edition handmade pearl necklaces with several variations of pearls, diamond and gold. These necklaces will cost 6 figures at $100K plus.

Wow, totally WOW! Well, do you like this bluetooth jewelry? I think this is adorable enough just being a necklace, and the bluetooth headset is really an amazing plus!

LG Viewty GTSmartphones are no news today, and we all have seen lots of interesting, beautiful smartphones, and neither is touchscreen anything new, but still a touchscreen smartphone is really worth a second look, and when it comes from the label LG, girls might really want to check it out, so here today we’re going to go through this LG Viewty GT generally.

Phone makers are falling over themselves to create great social-networking phones: Microsoft’s Kin; Nokia’s C3 – and mid-market phone veterans LG are jumping on the bandwagon releasing their LG Viewty GT exclusively on 3, which is on sale now.

We like the look of this touchscreen phone, not breathtakingly gorgeous but ordinarily beautiful indeed, though the biggest asset might just be the £15 a month deal.

Twitter and Facebook are built into the home screen, both available from one touch on the home screen. Skype is onboard and free as well.

Featuring 3.0″ resistive touch screen, a 5.0 Mega Pixel Auto Focus Camera and fast browsing with HSDPA 3.6. There is 60mb internal memory onboard and it comes with a stylus for more precise touch screen input. As for software, it features Muvee studio and photo editor and two customisable home screens.

The £14 a month contract on three includes 300 minutes of free talking, a mix of 300 minutes & texts to use how you like (anytime, any network) and unlimited internet. A good deal considering Skype is also free… but a 24 month contract. Also available on pay as you go.

Frankly, not a innovative smartphone, and quite ordinary look, but it is really quite convenient and thsi really is a social-networking smartphone which can basically make your social life more convenient and somehow easier to be connected, and that’s good. And the £14 a month contract is quite reasonable too.

Nokia C3 social networking smartphoneUsually smartphones are a little expensive, and we don’t like contract deals. But this time you might want to change your idea about this , the Nokia C3 – social networking smartphone comes to pay as you go on Vodafone is a nice phone that costs little with a quite OK contract. Let’s check it out.

Nokia’s Blackberry-lookalike social-networking phone, the Nokia C3 will be exclusively available on a pay as you go deal with Vodafone. It’s a move that may encourage lots of customers with less money into smartphones. When the Nokia C3 launches in June, Vodafone customers will be able to pick it up on one of the network’s pay as you go deals.

Packing Nokia Messenger, the phone offers one-click access to social networks, email and instant messaging services including Ovi chat – all pretty cheaply on customisable pay as you go deals. C3 customers will have to work out mobile internet deals, which on Vodafone include 250mb data web packs at £7.50 for 30 days. I keep mentioning that I am not a fan of limited internet deals but limited internet is the nature of pay as you go, and if you juggle your budget right and watch your usage, this could be a cheap way of getting a nice smartphone.

As for the phone itself, the Nokia C3 also features a full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi connectivity, a two-megapixel camera, capacity for up to 8GB of memory and a 2.4 inch screen. It’s a cute little handset that comes in several colours, including pink if you’re wondering.

Well, do you like it? I think a pink smartphone is great for girls. And this one is quite good look too.

Eco-friendly Cellphone powered by sugary drinksCola is a nice drink that we enjoy, but have ever thought that maybe your cellphone loves cola too? Interesting, you might wonder how your cellphone’s going to enjoy the cola, since sugary drinks usually destroys electronic devices, well, not if your phone is powered by sugary drinks, more interesting huh? :) Yeah, this is what we’re going to talk about today, the Eco-friendly cellphone powered by sugary drinks, or we can use a title like ‘Another use of your sweet cola’, anyway, let’s have a look at this unique phone.

The conceptual cellphone from Nokia is achieved by a young Chinese designer, Daizi Zheng. Different from usual mobiles out there powered by lithium battery, the eco-friendly phone adopts bio battery (which generates electricity from carbohydrates) as the power source. Therefore you only need to buy a can of cola to power your phone when the battery dies out! Then you might wonder how long this energy will last for your phone, you know because we need our phone so it has to be long enough for use, otherwise this whole thing will be meaningless. Don’t worry, they know that better than us, so claimed by Daizi Zheng, “Bio battery has the potential to operate three to four times longer on a single charge than conventional lithium batteries”.

The other thing is that you then can charge your phone literally everywhere with a can of cola, or wherever there’s a store retails sugary drinks. And since your phone will share your cola, you might also be able to reduce your own amount of sugary drinks, good for your health. So, it is small, it is cool, and it is eco-friendly, and also it looks funny, it would be really nice to see this practical concept hit the marketplace soon.

Nokia 3711Cellphones today are quite versatile and as a result of that they’re quite expensive too. For someone who doesn’t required much from a phone but still not satisfied with a basic phone, then this Nokia 3711 might be nice. As for the price, it’s quite reasonable, and for T-Mobile subscribers, it’s free! Yes, we’ll see what we can get for free from T-Mobile.

T-Mobile subscribers looking for a free flip phone should check out the Nokia 3711—even though it doesn’t look like much. Underneath its drab surface are some pretty powerful features, including a proper mobile Web browser, 3G data speeds, and decent music and video playback. Nokia made a few poor design decisions with the hardware, but even so, it’s worth a look.

The Nokia 3711 measures 3.5 by 1.8 by 0.6 inches (HWD) and weighs 3.3 ounces. The hard, rubbery finish features a textured wave pattern. I wasn’t thrilled with the look, but still looks clean. At least the material makes the phone comfortable to hold and resistant to light scratches. Build quality was also questionable, which is unusual for Nokia; the shortcut keys above the numeric keypad were uneven on my test handset, and the plastic frame around the keys felt excessively cheap.

The 2.2-inch QVGA (240-by-320-pixel) looked reasonably sharp and bright. Dialing numbers was super-easy thanks to the large, raised keys. The Nokia 3711 is a quad-band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and dual-band UMTS (1700/2100 MHz) device. It supports 3G data speeds, which makes it the first free phone I’ve seen on T-Mobile to do so. Voice calls sounded clear and warm overall. The Nokia 3711 doesn’t get very loud in the earpiece, but it was fine in quieter environments. Reception was average, calls sounded fine through an Aliph Jawbone Icon ($99.00) Bluetooth headset, and the phone’s voice dialing doesn’t require training. The mono speaker on the back was too quiet. Battery life was average at 7 hours and 3 minutes of talk time in EDGE mode.

Nokia’s Symbian Series 40 OS was responsive and easy to navigate in testing. The main menu employs a carousel on the home page for T-Mobile myFaves contacts, and another carousel one level down for basic media, messaging, and other functions. One of the 3711’s signature features is Maps, which can pinpoint your current location using the phone’s GPS radio, and then search for nearby points of interest (presuming you sign up for the data plan).  TeleNav GPS Navigation was also on board for voice-enabled, turn-by-turn directions at $9.99 per month. This isn’t really a messaging phone thanks to the numeric keypad. But there were plenty of e-mail and IM options available for all major Web services, even MySpace IM.

The 2-megapixel camera lacks auto-focus or a flash. Test photos leaned toward red in the color spectrum, with overly warm tones indoor and out. The phone dealt surprisingly well with light sources and poorly lit interior rooms, though motion blur ruined a few shots thanks to the slow shutter. Don’t bother recording videos; the 176-by-144-pixel, 15-frame-per-second results were too small and pixelated.

Overall, the Nokia 3711 shows how much you can get for “free” nowadays. And the phone is admittedly not very good, but then again, still worth a look! And I actually quite like the look, it’s simple and professional. Take this to consideration: it’s ‘free’ after all! So I’m now really wondering: would you like to have this ‘free’ phone?
