Ulysse Nardin hybrid Chairman smartphoneMechanical watches are just elegant, and mechanical cellphones are much more practical than a watch when the elegance maintained! So happy to see that first mechanical cellphone coming out, but today I’m going to tell you a earlier version of mechanical cellphone. The Ulysse Nardin Chairman hybrid smartphone is not really a mechanical cellphone technically speaking, but it is the start of mechanical cellphone, and we should always bear in mind this is the start of cellphone elegance.

About a year ago, Renowned Swiss watchmaker Ulysse Nardin caught everyone’s attention with a teaser shot of the company’s hybrid smartphone called the Chairman. It was not just a teaser, as the photos and other details for the phone were then disclosed on the product site. As it was exclaimed, the Chairman smartphone was on display at the Baselworld 2009. The smartphone features a functioning mechanical watch rotor, which is also incorporated into its elegant design. The built-in battery is charged with the kinetic energy of the moving rotor. A complete expression of dedication, passion and excellence, the Chairman smartphone is hand-assembled to ensure that Ulysse Nardin’s firm commitment to quality and craftsmanship is maintained.

Other salient features include a 2.8-inch multi-touch screen, fingerprint reader for owner identification and phone lock, numeric keys with high quality tactile response, email and internet application, a 5-megapixel camera and Wi-Fi connectivity. Only a limited number of Chairman smartphones are produced each year.

Papillon, the CELSIUS X VI II mechanical tourbillon cellphoneAs we always say, an elegant mechanical watch is the best way to show your wealth and also to show your taste of life! On the other hand, besides the fact that our life relies a lot on our cellphones today, cellphones are really can’t be called as elegant, they’re convenient, beautiful, modern… but not elegant, doesn’t seem tasteful either, even the blinged ones. But now ready to change your mind, we’re going to introduce you this extravagant one that do is elegant and do shows a high taste.

Remember, we’ve earlier told you about the world’s first mechanical cellphone, the upcoming launch of the Papillon. Aka. the CELSIUS X VI II mechanical tourbillon cellphone, which is inspired by the high-end Swiss watches and is wisely designed to merge the amazing mechanical movement of a high-end watch into this phone.

And if you thought it was merely a concept, the real shots of the concept have emerged to validate its design. The phone is made with 547 mechanical parts, and it features a tourbillon in its hinge. The unique combination uses a patented Remontage Papillon mechanism that mimics butterfly movement, and is activated when the wings are unfolded. The phone will operate solely through human energy and is touted as an entirely mechanical cellphone. This luxurious watch-phone will be priced at approximately $275,000 and will make its debut at the upcoming Basel World watch fair in Switzerland, which made Swizerland an even better place to travel to.

I love the mechanical idea, it’s looks elegant, feels luxurious and it’s eco-friendly, it thinks elegant and green! And judging from the photo here, it’s truly beautiful, just hope it will work as well.
