SMS is not just a mean of communication today, especially to the youth, it is like almost a lifestyle! As we always love to have fun in life, SMS should be a little more fun too, so here comes the SMS Slingshot, which can send your text messages onto walls. This is totally fun, and quite beautiful too.

I always thought of slingshot as a toy especially created for naughty boys, as we often saw young boys sending stones or balls onto girls or birds. But the SMS Slingshot designed by Berlin based VR/URBAN has totally changed my opinion.

It is a handheld digital slingshot device that can send color splashes and text messages onto public screens. There’s a mobile built in the wooden device to store messages and a laser to blast those contents onto nearby screens via a projector. So just as what you can see from the photos below, the user keys in the messages, shoots the slingshot, and then he/she can find a color splash appear on the screen with the text inside.

So the slingshot is now not just a mean toy for naughty boys, it is a fun toy for all of us! Hopefully you’ll enjoy it!

And here’s interesting news: the Chinese scroll cellphone is totally hot!

Why, when pulling out your cell phone, do you always have to look like an extra on Star Trek using a communicator? Why not unfurl your phone instead! Yun Liang has devised a concept for a chinese scroll cellphone. The numeric functions are on the side of the scroll so you don’t need to unroll the scroll to make a call.

This is totally beyond retro-chic into medieval-chic. Sadly we still have to wait a long time till this actually hit the market.

Interesting, you might wonder how your cellphone's going to enjoy the cola, since sugary drinks usually destroys electronic devices, well, not if your phone is powered by sugary drinks, more interesting huh? :) Yeah, this is what we're going to talk about today, the Eco-friendly cellphone powered by sugary drinks, or we can use a title like 'Another use of your sweet cola', anyway, let's have a look at this unique phone.

Interesting, you might wonder how your cellphone’s going to enjoy the cola, since sugary drinks usually destroys electronic devices, well, not if your phone is powered by sugary drinks, more interesting huh? Yeah, this is what we’re going to talk about today, the Eco-friendly cellphone powered by sugary drinks, or we can use a title like ‘Another use of your sweet cola’, anyway, let’s have a look at this unique phone.

The conceptual cellphone from Nokia is achieved by a young Chinese designer, Daizi Zheng. Different from usual mobiles out there powered by lithium battery, the eco-friendly phone adopts bio battery (which generates electricity from carbohydrates) as the power source. Therefore you only need to buy a can of cola to power your phone when the battery dies out! Then you might wonder how long this energy will last for your phone, you know because we need our phone so it has to be long enough for use, otherwise this whole thing will be meaningless. Don’t worry, they know that better than us, so claimed by Daizi Zheng, “Bio battery has the potential to operate three to four times longer on a single charge than conventional lithium batteries”.

The other thing is that you then can charge your phone literally everywhere with a can of cola, or wherever there’s a store retails sugary drinks. And since your phone will share your cola, you might also be able to reduce your own amount of sugary drinks, good for your health. So, it is small, it is cool, and it is eco-friendly, and also it looks funny, it would be really nice to see this practical concept hit the marketplace soon.
So happy to see that first mechanical cellphone coming out, but today I’m going to tell you a earlier version of mechanical cellphone. The Ulysse Nardin Chairman hybrid smartphone is not really a mechanical cellphone technically speaking, but it is the start of mechanical cellphone, and we should always bear in mind this is the start of cellphone elegance.

About a year ago, Renowned Swiss watchmaker Ulysse Nardin caught everyone’s attention with a teaser shot of the company’s hybrid smartphone called the Chairman. It was not just a teaser, as the photos and other details for the phone were then disclosed on the product site. As it was exclaimed, the Chairman smartphone was on display at the Baselworld 2009. The smartphone features a functioning mechanical watch rotor, which is also incorporated into its elegant design. The built-in battery is charged with the kinetic energy of the moving rotor. A complete expression of dedication, passion and excellence, the Chairman smartphone is hand-assembled to ensure that Ulysse Nardin’s firm commitment to quality and craftsmanship is maintained.

Other salient features include a 2.8-inch multi-touch screen, fingerprint reader for owner identification and phone lock, numeric keys with high quality tactile response, email and internet application, a 5-megapixel camera and Wi-Fi connectivity. Only a limited number of Chairman smartphones are produced each year.

As you can see from the photo above, this is really an elegant cellphone that can compete with a nice swiss mechanical watch, meanwhile it is also a great cellphone with pretty nice functions, love it!

On the other hand, besides the fact that our life relies a lot on our cellphones today, cellphones are really can’t be called as elegant, they’re convenient, beautiful, modern… but not elegant, doesn’t seem tasteful either, even the blinged ones. But now ready to change your mind, we’re going to introduce you this extravagant one that do is elegant and do shows a high taste.

Remember, we’ve earlier told you about the world’s first mechanical cellphone, the upcoming launch of the Papillon. Aka. the CELSIUS X VI II mechanical tourbillon cellphone, which is inspired by the high-end Swiss watches and is wisely designed to merge the amazing mechanical movement of a high-end watch into this phone.

And if you thought it was merely a concept, the real shots of the concept have emerged to validate its design. The phone is made with 547 mechanical parts, and it features a tourbillon in its hinge. The unique combination uses a patented Remontage Papillon mechanism that mimics butterfly movement, and is activated when the wings are unfolded. The phone will operate solely through human energy and is touted as an entirely mechanical cellphone. This luxurious watch-phone will be priced at approximately $275,000 and will make its debut at the upcoming Basel World watch fair in Switzerland, which made Swizerland an even better place to travel to.

I love the mechanical idea, it’s looks elegant, feels luxurious and it’s eco-friendly, it thinks elegant and green! And judging from the photo here, it’s truly beautiful, just hope it will work as well.

We’ve talked really much about cellphones and I’ve said it many times that today’s phones look much alike and so are their functions. And I do believe many of you have the same feeling that cellphones today do need some more innovation and some real fresh air. So here it comes, the latest news from PCMag: Will mechanical cellphone be the phone of the future?

We have seen precious engineering and artful designs in exclusive timepieces with a bit of inspirational flavor around them, albeit the inspiration has commonly come from the finest automobiles. Those exquisite Swiss watches have been considered as a symbol of identity and status for a really long time, and we do admire the beauty! However, in the inspirational category it’s a rare prospect to see cellphones taking their inspiration from high-end watches, but it should come with no surprise to see these two industries crossing over at increasing frequency in the very near future.

Here’s a starter from a French company called Celsius X-VI-II which will unveil the Papillon, a $300,000 mobile phone that cites high-end Swiss watches as an inspiration for this ultra-luxury, a mechanical mobile phone. Armed with the most advanced micro-mechanics of any gadget have ever created, the phone also intended to operate mechanically through human energy. This handmade art masterpiece watch with more than 600 mechanical components takes its design inspiration from the butterfly. Priced at $300,000, the phone will be limited to just 50 units in two versions. To know more about the creation and to see the X-rayed photo come to life, Celsius X VI II plans to unveil the phone at the Basel World watch fair starting on March 18th. So, stay tuned!

We always love mechanical watches for their elegance and accurate, they just look gorgeous! And I believe this distinctive mechanical phone will look really gorgeous and most possibly starts a new era for cellphone. Well, let’s just sharpen our eyes!

Sony Ericsson today unveiled the Aspen, an eco-friendly Windows Mobile smartphone, as the company pushes towards greener phones that are safer for the environment.

The company, a joint venture between Sweden’s Ericsson and Japan’s Sony, said the Aspen is made from recycled plastics and waterborne paints and use an optimized display light sensor that consumes less energy. It also comes in a smaller package to decrease CO2 emissions from transportation and an e-manual to reduce paper usage.

The Aspen runs Microsoft’s new Windows Mobile 6.5.3 platform, allowing users to open and edit Office files, browse the Web, send emails and check up on Facebook and Twitter with one flick of the finger. It also integrates a 2.4-inch touch screen display, built-in QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and high-speed HSDPA Internet.

“The Sony Ericsson Aspen is the business phone with a conscience,” Said Quentin Cordier, Sony Ericsson’s global marketing manager. “With the latest version of Windows Phone, it has a rich user interface and powerful productivity tools.”

In 2008, the company announced its “GreenHeart” initiative, a project to explore green technologies and use environmentally safe parts in its handsets, such as bio-plastic housings, recycled plastic keypads, eco-friendly chargers and environmentally conscious packaging. To date, four GreenHeart phones have been released — the Elm, Hazel, Naite and C901 handsets.

Other rivals including Motorola, Samsung have also designed eco-friendly phones — including Samsung’s solar-powered “Blue Earth” device.

In recent years, Sony Ericsson has been in a downward slide, mainly due to its heavily focus on mid-range Walkman music and Cyber-Shot camera phones when consumer demand quickly shifted to touch screen smartphones — such as Apple’s iPhone, Research in Motion’s BlackBerry and Google Android devices.

In June, the struggling company announced plans for a turnaround effort by developing new high-end smartphones using Google’s Android, Microsoft’s Windows Mobile and Nokia’s Symbian platforms.

It posted a narrower fourth-quarter loss last week, indicating that the company may be slowly progressing in its comeback plans.

Sony Ericsson said the Aspen will be available in selected markets in the second quarter.

Laughing Squid posted out these yummy, adorable, and prize-winning iPhone cupcakes. The cupcakes, created by Nick and Danielle Bilton, swept the Cupcake Decorating Championship at Ignite NYC II. I love the phone badge and the timer’s tiny details but can’t help but feel that the stocks cupcake somehow is missing a bit of white frosting. But whatever, still incredibly cute, I’d really like to taste these, looks quite yummy to me!

Cute and fun, and somehow I really want to try it myself, since I don’t know anything about bake, I’d better work with some plasticine instead! Life can be really creative if we all try! So, how do you like these?

Usually, we love BlackBerry for its excellent performance, wise design and for it not-so-high price too. But now, look what luxury have brought us – A Diamond Encrusted BlackBerry! Must be the most expensive BlackBerry ever, definitely not made for you and me, but still really gorgeous and never hurts to just take a look.

Well, Alexander Amosu has yet again set his heart on BlackBerry after a slew of BlackBerrys in precious metals including the Pearl Limited Diamond Edition, Tellor and the Pink BlackBerry Bold. The bling king who considers himself the Damien Hurst of his generation, now claims to have created the world’s most expensive diamond encrusted BlackBerry, crafted in solid 18 carat yellow gold and encrusted with 4,459 brilliant cut diamonds (weighing 28.43 carats). The handset is personalized with your name or company logo and comes with a 24-hour global concierge service. Only three diamond-encrusted BlackBerrys will ever be made, and of which one handset costing $200,366 has already been sold to a client in the Middle East.

Yeah, just another good example of what money can really buy you, the evidence of luxury lifestyle! Anyway, hopefully you’ll enjoy the picture, and go to sleep, we can all own one in dream…lol…..

As we all know, these tiny little plug-in earphones are not so good to our hearing , and you might not want to spend money on a bluetooth headset, and if you don't mind its large size, this one might be just fine to you.

As we all know, these tiny little plug-in earphones are not so good to our hearing , and you might not want to spend money on a bluetooth headset, and if you don’t mind its large size, this one might be just fine to you.

One main reason of why headphones couldn’t last long is that they’re usually tossed in bags and eventually get broken. In solving that problem, the Japanese have carried out a feasible try. Since the new headphones could be folded up into a mini size, with earphone wires wrapped around, you no longer need to worry about tossing your headphones with other items.

It has quite a lot of colors for you choose from, and has fashionable looks too. And more importantly, the foldable thing comes really useful when it comes about these big headphones.
